Top 7 N64 Games: Number 1

007 Golden Eye is largely considered the greatest game on the N64 console, but to me, there is another game that beats it out. It’s one of the best series Nintendo has ever put together and everyone knows the iconic young character with the green hat. Meet Link and the Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time.

#1 Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Launched in 1998, the Ocarina of Time is probably the greatest game on the console, at least in my eyes. It follows the story of Link, a young boy who meets with Princess Zelda and is sent on an epic quest in order to save Hyrule. Link has to battle his way across various lands, eventually going through time and becoming an adult and dealing with a much darker story line as he has to rescue Zelda and stop Ganondorf who is trying to destroy the world.

WELCOME TO HELL!

So what makes this game so great? Well, first off is the plot. Link is a great character and all of the quests and monsters he has to battle make for an epic game. The battle system is fun with arrows, hookshots, and even riding horseback while gunning down ghosts with the bow, are all fun. Then there are the temples that require not only skill but puzzle solving skills. One if particular still sends chills down everyone’s spines after all these years, the Water Temple. Yeah, if you know anything about this game, the Water Temple is pure evil, that’s all I will say about that hell hole.

Seriously, I remember playing this game for hours, even turning off the TV but leaving the console on while going to school so I could come right back after class and continue playing. It was such a fun game and is still a joy to play even today.
