YES! The teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released today and the internet and fans are buzzing (rightfully so!). We finally get to see Rey training with Luke after meeting him at the end of the last movie, The Force Awakens. Then of course is plenty of carefully picked dialogue between Rey and Luke and then into the action. We see ships, we see Finn, Poe, BB-8, the Falcon, Kylo and what got me excited, the Knights of Ren (and appears not just a flashback scene). The final line is “I only know one truth. It’s time for the Jedi to end” and Yeah, that is epic. Yeah, December 15th can’t get here fast enough for this movie!
They also replaced the movie poster as well! Get hyped!
Well, the Walking Dead is now over until October and Fear the Walking Dead won’t start until June 4th, so to fill in that gap of the Monday blogs, I have decided to watch at least one movie each weekend and right a quick review of it. It will be brief, not wanting to give away too many spoilers and other plot points, but will be discussing my feelings and thoughts about each. Continue reading
Finally! The next Star Wars film, Episode 8, which is scheduled to be released in December, finally has a name! The Last Jedi! There we go, we have a name and the new banner for the movie with the evil looking red lettering.
So what does it mean? Well, let’s try to dig into a banner as much as possible. The term Jedi is both plural and singular, so it could mean there is one last Jedi or there is a group, making them the last of the Jedi. All we have right now is Luke and Rey (maybe Finn). We know Luke taught the new Jedi academy before Kylo killed everyone, so maybe there are some survivors out there, or it may just be Luke and Rey. A lot of folks are speculating this means Luke could be killed in this movie, leaving Rey as the last Jedi, but as my good friend Jon pointed out, the Star Wars movies probably planned to take away the old characters throughout the new episodes, starting with Han in the first (spoiler). Now with Carrie Fisher gone (RIP), they could push Luke’s fate to the next film. They will have to find a way to take away Princess Leia’s character in the film so I doubt they would get rid of two of the original characters.
Outside of this, we have nothing but guess work and pure fandom for the upcoming movie. I mean, we probably won’t get the first trailer until May so until then, this is the best we have.
Here we go, the top two movies in the franchise series and to me, they are tied! Yep, after watching the Rogue One twice and watching the Empire Strikes back over the years (and recently), to me, they are the top two films of the series but I can’t pick one over another. Continue reading
Don’t mess with a blind monk.
So, I went today to see the new Star Wars movie, Rogue One. I entered the theater having a basic knowledge of the plot and knew what the story was about (stealing the Death Star plans). After watching it though, even knowing what I did, I was still blown away. This reaction won’t have spoilers, just a general reaction to the great movie. Continue reading
Long live the Alliance.
Ah, I can’t wait for Saturday morning! Tomorrow I will be seeing Rogue One: A Star Wars Movie, the day after it has opened across the nation.
I saw the Force Awakens last year and loved it. We got Poe, Rey, Finn, BB-8, lost Han (spoiler alert), but it amazing as the series came back to life with new characters, new life, and even more fun. But this one is going to be different. In fact, if it lives up to the hype, it could be the realest Star Wars movie and let me explain my reasoning for this.
In the past, we have had the Jedi, Luke, Yoda, Obi-Wan, and many others. Well now, they don’t exist in this movie. In their place and in place of the regulars we have learned to love over the years, is a group of rebels, people that have to fight with their own wits and abilities and must complete a task that is thought near impossible by the Alliance. Jyn Erso and her crew have to get the plans for the Death Star and well, that should be impossible, but we know they do succeed. Yet what cost will they pay? Will they be taken by the Empire?
I can’t wait to see this film and from what I’m reading, its already living up to the hype. I’m prepared for a more gritty, down and dirty, war type movie compared to the Jedi and mystic powers we have grown accustomed to in the previous movies.
